Register now for Botany Crash Course, Friday, May 10th 9 am - 5 pm!
Gradey Proctor of the Arctos School of Herbal and Botanical Studies will take us on a tour of the terms and tools one needs to properly ID plants in the Northwest. We will start our day with a tour of the terms and tools one needs to properly identify plants in the Northwest. We will talk about the parts of the flower, leaf structure, and arrangement, review a few plant books and how to use them. Then we will put our new knowledge to work as we explore the forests of Mt. Hood to meet the flora of the Northwest, talking herbalism, ecology, plant ID, wild foods, and more along the way.
This in-depth botanical training is a fundraiser for Bark's volunteer groundtruthing program. We are offering this class for a $40-$100 donation to support the great work that Bark does in the Mt. Hood National Forest. All proceeds will go to field gear needed to survey proposed timber sales. Not only will this be a great way to get practical tools to connect with the natural world, it's a great opportunity to contribute to the work of Arctos's favorite organization.
Carpool will leave from Portland. Cost is $40 - $100, sliding scale.
