Join us for this two-part class on the basics of botany. On Wednesday May 16th 6:30-8:30PM (Part 1), Gradey Proctor of the Arctos School of Herbal and Botanical Studies will take us on a tour of the terms and tools one needs to properly ID plants in the Northwest. We will talk about the parts of the flower, leaf structure and arrangement, review a few plant books and how to use them, and so much more in this hands-on approach to learning about the plants. Then on Friday, May 18th 9AM-5PM (Part 2) we will put our new knowledge to work as we head up to Mt Hood to meet some of the flora of the Northwest; talking herbalism, ecology, proper plant ID, wild foods and so much more along the way.
This in-depth botanical training is a fundraiser for Bark's volunteer Groundtruthing program. We are offering this two-part class for a $40 to a $100 donation to support the great work that Bark does in Mt Hood National Forest and beyond. All proceeds will be going to field gear needed to survey proposed timber sales. Not only will this be a great way to get some tools to connect with the natural world you will also get to contribute to the work of our favorite organization that works to protect it. Please email Gradey to learn more!
