Join us for this in-person Ecology Club to learn about knots and anything about climbing that you’d like to learn in a park! Misha VanEaton, Bark’s Forest Watch Assistant, worked as rock climbing and mountaineering guide teaching a wide range of backcountry travel, safety, and navigation skills before coming to Bark. They will be bringing all of the necessary tools—ropes, carabiners, cord, webbing, compasses and more—so you can learn and practice the skills that interest you!
Please note: This in-person event will follow Bark’s COVID fieldwork protocol. Masks will be required and space is limited. This event will be held in an outdoor space accessible by transit in the Portland area. Details of the location will be sent to you after you register.
If you are skilled with sailing or fishing knots, setting up tarps, rescue systems, or any other ropes-related skills and would like to share those skills at this Ecology Club, please contact Misha at misha@bark-out.org!
Join us online the second Wednesday of each month for Ecology Club! We discuss an ecological themes related to Bark’s work on Mt Hood or seasonal skills to give the community a deeper appreciation and understanding of NW ecology. Some months feature presenters, who bring their unique skills to the community. Other times, we will work as a group on such topics as thinning, fire ecology, wildflowers, birds, road ecology, or other ecological knowledge.
At the meeting's close, we leave time open to further explore the topics of the evening, delve deeper into Bark's work to protect Mt Hood, and learn about what you can do to protect Mt. Hood National Forest!
This event is free + open to the public.
Thank you for registering for June's Ecology Club! See you soon!
You will receive an email prior to the event with location information. Please note that participants will be required to wear face coverings.
If you have any questions before the event, please connect with Misha VanEaton, Forest Watch Assistant at misha@bark-out.org.
