Join us on an in-person outing to explore Timothy Lake and Little Crater Lake along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT)! Bobbi Brunkalla and co-leader Phil Hoffmann hiked the PCT in 2018. As long-time backpackers, hiking the PCT pushed their leave-no-trace ethos, changed their relationship to needs vs wants and taught them to go slow and appreciate a human pace to life. On this hike they'll talk about the PCT, long distance hiking and backpacking in general, leave-no-trace practices, and go over tips and tricks for lightening your pack while still being comfortable.
This out-and-back hike is 5.4 miles each way (11 miles total) and relatively flat (about 1000ft elevation gain and loss over 11 miles). The hike will start and end at Joe Graham Campground with a mid-point destination of Little Crater Lake. The trail is well maintained with a couple of small stream crossings.
Please note: This in-person outing will follow COVID-19 protocols. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Driving directions will be sent to registrants before the event.
Since the beginning, Bark has offered free, monthly hikes to Mt. Hood National Forest and surrounding public lands. We believe that by witnessing the breathtaking Cascade ecosystem and learning about the many threats it faces, we can build stronger advocates for the protection of our public lands. Our hike leaders are passionate, knowledgeable volunteers who incorporate information about forest ecology and policy with how to get involved in our efforts.
